Multiplayer social deduction

Find the book. Write the names. Don’t get voted out.

A first-person multiplayer whodunnit in the browser: whoever finds the hidden Killbook secretly becomes the Killer, and everyone else has to work out who before their own name is written.

The challenge

Social deduction only works if secrets stay secret. In a browser, anything a client receives can be read — so the game could not trust any browser with something its player should not know.

What we built

Every rule lives on the server. Each player is sent only what their character could see: people in range and in line of sight, their own role, the messages they may read. Bots join through the same public actions and see exactly what a human would, so they fill seats without cheating.

Highlights

  • Hidden roles never reach the wrong browser — the server decides what each player sees
  • Meetings and votes round the table, with voice chat
  • Bots that search, accuse and bluff by the same rules as people
  • Quick-start public lobbies, private rooms with codes, and a solo mode
