Real price ranges for a landing page, a business website, an online store and a custom web app in India, what drives the cost up, and the running costs nobody mentions.

Ask five people what a website costs in India and you will hear five answers between ₹5,000 and ₹5 lakh. They are all honest. They are just describing different things. This guide breaks down what each kind of website actually costs to build in 2026, what pushes the price up, and what you will keep paying after launch, so you can compare quotes like for like.

We build websites for a living, so we will show you our own prices too. Use them as one reference point, not the only one.

The short answer

What you need Typical price in India Time
DIY on a website builder (Wix, Squarespace, Hostinger) ₹3k–15k a year in subscriptions A few weekends
Template site set up by a freelancer ₹8k–25k 1–2 weeks
One focused landing page, designed and built ₹25k–50k About a week
Business website, 5–8 pages, custom design ₹60k–1.5L 2–4 weeks
Online store (Shopify or WooCommerce) ₹35k–2L+ 2–6 weeks
Custom web app or SaaS product ₹3L–15L+ 6 weeks and up

The ranges are wide because "a website" covers everything from a single page to a product with logins and payments. The rest of this article explains where in each range you are likely to land.

What actually changes the price

1. Template or custom design

A template is a design someone else made, with your logo and text swapped in. It is fast and cheap, and for many small businesses it is genuinely enough. A custom design is drawn for your business: your content, your customers, your brand. It costs more because a designer's time is the expensive part, and it usually converts better because the page is built around what your visitors need to know.

A useful middle path is a template-based build with custom copy and a few custom sections. You get most of the benefit for a fraction of the cost.

2. Who writes the words

Nothing slows a website project down like waiting for content. If you arrive with your text, photos and service details ready, the build is quick. If the studio has to interview you and write the copy, that is real work and it should be in the quote. Good copy is also the single biggest factor in whether a site produces enquiries, so it is often money well spent.

3. Number of page types, not number of pages

Ten service pages that share one layout cost far less than ten pages that each look different. When you compare quotes, count the distinct layouts: home, services, a service detail, about, contact, a blog post. That number drives design and development time more than the page count does.

4. Features

Each of these adds cost because each needs building and testing:

  • Enquiry forms that email you and store submissions somewhere you can find them
  • Online booking, payments or UPI checkout
  • A blog or content you can edit yourself (a CMS)
  • Multiple languages
  • Customer logins, dashboards or anything personalised
  • Integrations with your CRM, WhatsApp, inventory or accounting software

5. Speed and SEO done properly

A site can look finished and still take 15 seconds to load on a phone, or be almost invisible to Google. Doing it properly means compressed modern images, minimal scripts, proper page titles and descriptions, structured data, a sitemap and Search Console set up. Cheaper quotes often skip this, and it shows months later when the site gets no traffic.

The costs after launch

The build is a one-time cost. These are not:

  • Domain name: about ₹800–1,500 a year for a .com or .in.
  • Hosting: from free (for a fast static site on a modern host) to ₹3k–10k a year for typical shared or WordPress hosting. Online stores on Shopify pay a monthly plan instead, from a few thousand rupees a month.
  • Business email: Google Workspace or Zoho, roughly ₹100–300 per user per month.
  • Updates and care: plugin updates, security patches, small text changes. A care plan typically costs ₹3k–10k a month. Skip it and you will pay for emergency fixes instead.
  • Paid plugins and themes: common on WordPress, often billed yearly in dollars.

Ask every studio you talk to what the site will cost to run each year, not just to build.

What we charge

These are our current prices for clients in India. The work is the same for clients abroad.

Project What's included Time Price
Speed & Google fix (existing site) Speed and mobile fixes, titles and descriptions, structured data, Search Console, before-and-after report 3–5 days ₹15k–35k
Landing page One focused page, enquiry form with email alerts About a week ₹30k–45k
Business website 5–8 pages, help with copy, SEO foundations, enquiry inbox, editable content, hosting and handover 2–3 weeks ₹60k–1.2L
MVP or web app First version of a product, built in weekly milestones 6–10 weeks ₹3L–8L
Care plan Hosting, updates, monitoring and small changes Monthly ₹5k–10k a month

Every site we build is pre-rendered for search engines and tested on a mid-range phone before launch, because that is how most of your customers will see it. You can see examples in our work and what's included on the website development page.

How to compare quotes

When two quotes differ by ₹50,000, the difference is almost always in one of these. Ask each studio:

  1. How many distinct page layouts are included?
  2. Who writes the content, and how many rounds of changes are included?
  3. Will I own the domain, hosting account and code? You should. Avoid anyone who registers your domain in their own name.
  4. How fast will it load on a phone? Ask for a PageSpeed score or load time from a site they launched recently, and check it yourself.
  5. What will it cost to run each year, and what happens if I want to leave?
  6. What happens after launch? Who fixes things, how quickly, and at what cost?

A cheap website that loads slowly and never appears on Google costs more in the end than a good one, because it quietly loses you the customers who were already looking for you.

The bottom line

For most small and growing businesses in India, a well-built 5–8 page website costs between ₹60,000 and ₹1.5 lakh, plus a few thousand rupees a year to run. A single landing page is a sensible start if budget is tight, and an online store or web app is a different, larger project.
